Dan Burt TWSA, AWS, DF, NNWS  reports that he won the Henry Fukuhara Award at the Annual Watercolor West Exhibition in Riverside, CA in December 2007. He also won the Michael Frary Award at the 59th Annual Texas Watercolor Society Exhibition in McAllen, TX, March 2008. He has a painting in Splash 10, North Light books which will be released in April and one of his paintings was in the February 2008 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine.

Frank Francese NWS, TWSA Master, WW, WHS, TSW, SDWS, CWS, WFWS had a painting in the National Watercolor Society 87th Annual National Exhibition which received the “Milford Zornes Award.” Also he was chosen for the NWS Travel Exhibition for 2007-2008. He also did a painting demonstration on Enid Silvermans “Artist to Artists” program for PBS in Chicago area. He won the Patron’s Award in the 2008 Watercolor West 39th Annual National Exhibition 2007.Western Federation of Watercolor Societies 32nd Annual Exhibition 2007; Arvada Center for the Arts, Westminster, CO. “Whitby, England” received Award of Merit”[ 148 paintings selected from 1,034 entries from nine different watercolor societies across Western United States] Transparent Watercolor Society of America 31st National Juried Exhibition 2007, Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst, IL. “Whitby, England II” received the “Vivian “Chevy” Chevillon Award”. San Diego Watercolor Society 27th International Exhibition 2007, SDWS Showcase Gallery, San Diego, CA. “Star of India, San Diego” received “Inspiration Cash Award”. “In Memory of Gail and Cindy Purchase Award” [1 K award] Kansas Watercolor Society Great Eight Exhibition 2007, Wichita Center for the Arts, Wichita, KS. “Lake Mc Donald, Glacier” received the “Wichita Women Artists Cash Award”.

Francese was chosen to be National Exhibition Judge and Juror of Awards 2007 for the following watercolor societies: Idaho Watercolor Society 28th National Exhibition; Boise State University Student Union Gallery, Boise, Idaho; Memphis/ Germantown Art League National Exhibition 2007, Memphis, TN.

Art Jacobs had paintings accepted in the Georgia Watercolor Society’s 2007 National Exhibition; the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society’s ‘Aqueous Open 2007’; Northeast Watercolor Society’s 31st Annual International Open Exhibition 2007 in which he received an award; and The Texas Watercolor Society’s 59th Annual Juried Exhibit.

Chris Beck, TWSA, was a finalist in the still-life and landscape categories in The Artist’s Magazine competition in 2007. As a result, she was featured as Artist of the Month for their website in January, 2008. Debi Watson had paintings accepted in the Art League of Hilton Head’s National Juried Exhibition and Baltimore Watercolor Society’s 2008 Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibit. She was awarded the Air Float Systems Award at the Texas Watercolor Society’s 59th Annual Juried Exhibition, the Loring Coleman Award from Allied Artist of America and the Traveling Show Award from the Kentucky Watercolor Society’s Aqueous USA.

Jane Freeman has been juried into the 2007 Paint America Top 100 competition with her painting, “Beltrami County Fair”. Jane’s book, “A Celebration of Light”, is now available. It contains 9 demonstrations of her method of painting and also includes 10 interviews with nationally known artists with questions that will help artists hone their skills.

John Hewitt was awarded the St Cuthberts Mill award at the Watercolor West 08 show and accepted as signature member of that society. Also this year received signature of KWS to add to PWS, and TWS.

Lew Wallace is included in the March 2008 issue of “Artist’s Magazine” as one of the artists in the “21 Artists Over 60” article. He has a website: http://www.lewwallacewatercolors.com/.

Jean Dobie, AWS, NWS, TWSA was chosen as Juror of Selection and Awards for the Texas Watercolor Society at the International Museum of Arts and Science, McAllen , TX, March 2008. She was featured in an Artist-To-Artist Interview for ‘Watercolor’ winter 2008 issue. The article and paintings can be viewed on Dobie’s website at jeannedobie.com.

Roberta Carter Clark and her long portrait painting career are the subject of an article in ‘American Artist magazine in their May 2008 issue. It is not a how-to-paint-it article, but rather about how to manage a life-long career as a portrait painter. 13 images of her work are shown.

Tony Armendariz, IWScaptured first place in the watercolor category for inclusion into thecoffee table book ‘Art Buzz, The 2008 Collection’ which features three of his works.Healsoreceived an Award of Recognitionat the ‘Watercolor ‘08’show at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, IL.Tony was also invited to enter one of his award winning worksinto the Alliance of Fine Art‘Best of the Best’show at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oakbrook, IL. He now haswork hanging at the Square D-Scheider Electric corporate gallery in Palatine, IL through July 7th. Tony currently serves as Director of the Illinois Watercolor Society.

A painting by Shirley Ann Jorns was accepted into the 2007 Paint the Parks Mini50 and another painting has been accepted into the 2007 Paint America Top100. Both paintings are in their traveling exhibits and can be viewed on their website www.paintamerica.org.
