Marie Matthews currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her B.A. from Smith College. After a 20-year career in technology, she is actively pursuing an art career.

Marie has won dozens of awards for her work, including First Place in the Georgia Watercolor Society Members' Exhibition in 2008 and the Gold Medal from the Southern Watercolor Society in 2007. She is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society. Her work appears in numerous collections, including the MacKenna Museum of African American Art in New Orleans.
