Catherine grew up on the northwest side of Chicago, attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Art studying commercial art and fashion illustration. She worked for several years as a fashion illustrator before becoming a mom.
Although highly skilled in oil and acrylic mediums, she discovered transparent watercolor in the late 1980's and has been painting in watercolor since 1990. Her major interests are in portraits, landscape and abstract design.
Her memberships include: Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Signature Screening Secretary; Lakes Region Watercolor Guild, past president; Nature Artist's Guild, Morton Arboretum;Antioch Fine Arts Foundation; LaGrange Art League, past president
As 1st Vice President and Signature Screening Chair, Catherine's history with the Transparent Watercolor Society of America is invaluable. Catherine is also responsible for managing the notification, listing, and tracking of membership qualifications for both TWSA Signature Status and TWSA Master Status. She issues and maintains the certification process for these award levels.
Catherine continues to study, taking and giving workshops, discussing and teaching all aspects of watercolor painting. She has been awarded Signature Status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and currently shows her work in both local and national galleries and is honored to be part of the permanent collection of the Norris Gallery.
