D E A D L I N E Entries must be received by February 2, 2004 E L I G I B I L I T Y The annual exhibition is open to residents of the USA and Canada who are 18 years or older working in Transparent Watercolor. All entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant, not a replica and executed after January 1, 2002, without the supervision of an instructor, and not previously exhibited in TWSA or MWS exhibitions. S P E C I F I C A T I O N S All submitted paintings must be watercolor applied in a transparent manner. No use of white, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, metallic, collage or surface constructions will be allowed. Pencil may be used only for planning marks. Varnished works are ineligible. Painting must be executed on a single piece of untreated paper. The use of gesso, priming or embossing is not permitted. Handmade paper must be free of pigment and/or embedded materials. M E T H O D O F E N T R Y Each artist may enter slides of two paintings; a maximum of one slide per artist will be accepted. A diptych or triptych will be considered one entry and must be presented within one frame. Slides must be 2"x2" cardboard or plastic mounts. Mark each slide with name, title, an arrow pointing up and include both image and frame dimensions as shown on the diagram. Note: only mylar tape may be used to mask slides. Use new mount if tape is used. Slides of accepted entries will become the property of TWSA. Rejected slides will be returned in the SASE provided by the artist. An exhibition catalog will be mailed to all entrants. A W A R D S Skyledge Award of $1750, Edgar Whitney Award of $900, and other monetary and merchandise awards totalling approximately $7000. J U R O R C O N D I T I O N S Maximum framed size cannot exceed 50" in either direction. Minimum image size is 8" in one direction and 10" in the other direction. Accepted work must be wired, ready to hang and under plexiglass (no glass). Use simple, narrow frames. White or off-white top mats only. No exceptions. A thin color fillet/liner is acceptable. Framing must be in good condition. Final jurying will be from the actual work. Artwork will be reviewed by the TWSA Screening Committee for infringements of the Prospectus Specifications and Conditions. Works which do not pass the final screening will not be exhibited and will be returned at the artist’s expense. The TWSA screening committee’s decision is final. Artist may not substitute another work for an accepted work, change sales price or withdraw work once it has been accepted. Failure to comply shall result in a two-year prohibition to enter future TWSA Exhibitions. S A L E S Paintings must either be priced for sale or "NFS" (Not For Sale). If NFS, insurance value must be declared. 30% sales commission. F E E S
S T A T E M E N T O F L I A B I L I T Y Artists are responsible for insuring their paintings to and from exhibition. The Museum provides insurance during the exhibition. Neither TWSA nor the Elmhurst Art Museum will be responsible for damage or loss. E N T R Y C H E C K L I S T
Note: Incomplete forms will be returned. Information on form must agree with information on slides. Only fully completed signed entry forms will be juried. No return of entry fees. Canadian entry fees must be a postal money order in US dollars.
